Makarska or Macarsca (in German: Macharscha) is a town on the Adriatic coast of the Dalmacy, in Croatia, about 60 km southeast of Split and 140 km northwest of Dubrovnik. It belongs to Split-Dalmia County.
It is a tourist destination, located in a horseshoe -shaped bay between the mountains of Biokovo and the Adriatic Sea. The city stands out for its promenade, adorned with palm trees, in which coffees, bars and shops appear to the small port where recreation vessels are tied. Next to the beach there are several hotels and a camping.
The center of Makarska is a citadel of streets cobbled with a main square in front of the church in which there is a flower and fruit market and a Franciscan monastery that houses a collection of sea shells.
